Some encounters change your route

Some wise men from the East followed a star to Bethlehem, worshiped the Child and offered him gold, frankincense and myrrh. Then, warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another way (Mt 2:12). The Gospel tells it as a detail of the journey, but many have also read it as an image: whoever truly meets Jesus doesn't go back the same. Something in their route changes. The change doesn't have to be spectacular. Sometimes it's leaving a path that was hurting you, taking up a good habit again or treating someone differently. If Christmas has been an encounter, it will show in the fact that something in your life now goes another way.
