Shared joy stands firm against contradiction
A difficult mission weighs less when its fruits and stumbles can be celebrated and wept over in common.
Working for what is good in an indifferent environment wears a person down. If each person processes rejections entirely alone, difficulty seems to prove that the effort lacks meaning.
Apostolic friendship creates a shared memory. It recounts a small opening, laughs at a blunder, and remembers for whose sake it is worthwhile to continue. Joy does not depend solely on great results.
Sharing does not consist in forming a closed group that looks down on those who do not respond either. Communion must renew the desire to draw near with greater humility. When companions pray, rest, and give thanks together, contradiction ceases to isolate. The joy received in the relationship becomes strength to go out again without hardening the heart.
