Sadness is not a failure
Being sad does not in any way mean that you are far from God.
Sadness is a part of human life. It can appear through losses, exhaustion, wounds, or even from seeing more clearly a good that is lacking.
It does no good to make it absolute or always hide it away. You can bring it to God, speak with someone prudent, and take care of the basics. Faith does not ask you to be cheerful all day; it invites you not to walk alone.
Here too God enters in a very concrete way. He does not look only at what you do on the outside; he also desires to order the heart, heal what is wounded, and teach you to respond better, not merely to react.
Key idea
Sadness can be lived with truth, companionship, and hope.
