Ruling is serving the voiceless

Mark as read

Authority is measured by how it cares for the weakest.

Having responsibility over others is not a license to impose oneself. In a family, a group, a workplace, or a city, leading well means first looking out for those who might be forgotten. Politics, management, or any leadership is ruined when it becomes pure self-interest. It regains dignity when it seeks justice and protects those who cannot defend themselves. Christian power resembles service far more than dominion. Those who govern should ask themselves whom they are lifting up.

Key idea

Authority is more human when it serves the good of the most fragile.

Your challenge for this idea

If you have any responsibility today, use it to make life easier for someone with less of a voice.
