Returning what is not yours
Regretting an injustice is not enough: you have to make amends for it.
Asking for forgiveness for an injury is good, but justice asks for something more: making restitution where possible. If you kept what belonged to another, if you cheated, if you harmed someone in their money or work, the honest step is to return or compensate, not just to feel sorry.
It is not always comfortable or easy, and sometimes it costs money or reputation. For that very reason it is a sign of true honesty: it is not enough to be clean inside if the other person remains harmed on the outside.
This applies to small and daily things as well: extra change, "borrowed" items that never return, work paid for and not done. Making amends finishes properly what repentance only leaves halfway.
Key idea
Justice requires repairing the harm done, not just regretting it.
