A retreat is not wasted time

Mark as read

Stopping completely for a few days can order your entire year.

A retreat is easy to explain: stepping away from everything for a few days—work, phone, noise—to be with God and look at your life calmly. Silence, some meditation, prayer, rest. Seen from a schedule it looks like a luxury. It is usually the opposite: few things yield so much. Important questions almost never fit into an ordinary week: daily routine shouts and prevents thinking. That is why Jesus Himself withdrew to pray alone. If He needed it, you are not going to be the exception. And there is no need to wait until you are broken. A retreat is not a repair shop: it is the maintenance that prevents breakdowns. You return from it with things in their proper place and, often, with the decision you had been postponing for months.

Key idea

Without truly stopping, there is no way to see your whole life.

Your challenge for this idea

Find a date for a retreat this year, even if only for a single day, and book it just as you book what is important.
