Repairing indifference is a form of love
When someone is ignored, loving also consists in restoring your attention to them.
The prayer taught at Fatima speaks of repairing outrages, sacrileges, and indifferences. Reparation is not obsessing over keeping an account of offences, but responding with love where love has been lacking. Indifference hurts in a quiet, silent way.
It breaks nothing in plain sight; it simply leaves one alone, passes by, or treats a presence as though it did not matter. Reparation begins by looking again and giving time. You can live it with Christ in the tabernacle and also with people. A visit, an apology, a time of adoration, or listening to someone you have ignored are ways of placing concrete love into a real void.
Key idea
To repair is to respond with concrete love in the place where there was contempt or indifference.
Your challenge for this idea
Dedicate ten minutes of complete attention today to someone or to God where you have lately passed by without noticing.
