Conversion also reaches the underlying criteria with which you interpret what happens around you.
You can change some behaviors while keeping your way of evaluating completely intact: you still see service as a loss, forgiveness as weakness, or success as proof of superiority. Then doing what is good is always experienced as an uphill struggle.
Christian formation renews your outlook. The Gospel, prayer, and good examples reveal different criteria: greatness as self-giving, freedom as the capacity to love, and authority as service. The external reality is the same; what changes is what you recognize in it.
That transformation does not happen through an isolated sentence. It needs you to return repeatedly to the truth, contrast it with life, and act from it. Each coherent decision confirms a new way of seeing until it begins to become your own.
