Praying with distractions

Mark as read

A distraction does not turn your prayer into a lie.

To pray is to raise the mind to God, and sometimes that thought wanders off a thousand times. There is no need to dramatize. Returning with humility is also prayer. Constancy is worth more than perfect concentration. A spiritual book, a brief phrase, or a quieter place can help, but the essential thing is to keep treating God with trust. For a Christian, this is not just an idea. It has to do with a living relationship with God: trusting, listening, asking for help, asking for forgiveness, and starting over. Understanding it is not enough; it has to touch prayer and everyday decisions.

Key idea

Praying well includes returning to God each time you get distracted.

Your challenge for this idea

When you get distracted during prayer, return without anger and say a simple phrase to God.
