A pilgrimage is praying with your feet
There are prayers that require a journey, weariness, and company.
Pilgrimages lead to a hermitage or shrine along a journey that is also part of the prayer itself. It is not just about arriving, reciting a brief prayer, and returning: the body participates through its steps, its fatigue, and the shared time.
Walking pulls devotion out of comfort.
Each stretch can carry an intention, a conversation, or a silence. It also reminds us that the Christian life is not staying still to admire a goal, but moving forward toward a home that we do not yet see. There is no need for a massive pilgrimage. A simple walk toward a nearby church, done intentionally and without rushing, can help you pray in a brand new way.
Key idea
A pilgrimage allows the body, effort, and journey to become prayer as well.
Your challenge for this idea
Organize a short walk to a church or image of Mary and offer each stretch for a specific intention.
