Ordinary Time is not filler time

Most of the liturgical year is called Ordinary Time. The name can sound like a season when nothing happens, but the Church dedicates it to accompanying Jesus in his public life and learning from him step by step. Your life too is made mostly of uneventful days: working, tidying up, caring, praying with little enthusiasm, and starting over. If you only recognize God in intense moments, you will end up despising the place where your heart is truly formed. The ordinary is not a break from vocation. It is its usual workshop. The green color of this season speaks of a growth that is hardly ever seen while it happens, but appears in the patience, fidelity, and affection with which you repeat what is worthwhile.
