Obeying is not always losing
Sometimes accepting guidance makes you more free, not less.
Obedience sounds bad when it is confused with suppressing intelligence. But obeying well involves recognizing legitimate authority and collaborating with a good that does not depend only on your preferences.
Humility is also needed to allow oneself to be corrected. Whoever never obeys ends up obeying their pride, their comfort, or the prevailing atmosphere of the moment.
It helps not to go to extremes. Neither living constrained and without joy, nor calling it freedom to always do what you feel like. Virtue takes another path: ordering desires so that they help you live better, not so that they rule over everything.
