Not everything you know is yours to tell

Finding out something does not give you the right to tell it. Some things are known in confidence, through work, or through proximity, and are not yours to broadcast. Keeping a secret is not being closed or hiding something: often it is justice and respect for another's privacy. This is different from gossiping. Here what you tell does not even have to be bad: it is enough that it is not your place to air it. People's private lives, their wounds, what they entrusted to you, deserve discretion. In a world where everything gets forwarded and commented on, staying silent in time is caring. Before telling something about someone else, it is worth asking: is it my business to share it? Does it do anyone good to know?
