Faith

There is no cookie-cutter Christian personality

Mark as read

Faith proposes a way of loving, not a single way of speaking, dressing, or reacting.

In some circles, Christian life is confused with a specific human style. It seems that to fit in, one must adopt the same sense of humor, the same tastes, or an identical way of expressing oneself. Christian unity is born of something deeper: following Christ, living charity, and seeking the truth. Within that common root, there is room for very different temperaments, cultures, ages, and sensibilities. Difference does not necessarily threaten communion. Maturing in faith allows you to distinguish what is essential from the customs of the group. That way you can learn without copying, and contribute without turning your uniqueness into rebellion. God does not ask you to fabricate a recognizable persona, but to place your real personality at the service of love.

Key idea

Christian identity shares a root in Christ and allows for a great diversity of personalities and human expressions.

Your challenge for this idea

Spot a custom in your environment that you confused with a Christian duty, and distinguish what true value it tries to protect.
