Natural law is not a whim

Mark as read

There are ways of living that build us up and others that break us.

Morality is not a pointless list designed to complicate life. It stems from a simple truth: human beings have a specific nature, and not every decision does them good. God does not invent commandments to annoy us. He shows us the path corresponding to our dignity. Obeying that truth does not diminish you; it prevents living against yourself. This does not remain a nice phrase. It shows up in very concrete matters: how you spend time, how you rest, how you speak, and what you do when it is time to start over. That is where an idea stops being theory and begins touching life.

Key idea

Moral goodness corresponds to who we are, not to an external whim.

Your challenge for this idea

Think of a healthy boundary that once annoyed you and that you now recognize as helpful.
