Mercy is not merely a soft sentiment

Mark as read

Welcoming you does not mean pretending that your wound or your sin does not matter.

St. Faustina and St. Margaret Mary speak of the Heart of Christ as a refuge and source of mercy. A refuge does not deny the storm: it offers a safe place from which to stop running away and begin living differently. Sometimes we confuse mercy with downplaying everything. But if nothing were broken, there would be nothing to heal. Christ welcomes the sinner without calling the sin good, and consoles the wounded without reducing their pain to a mere phrase. Receiving mercy includes letting yourself be looked at with truth. You are not rejected because of your misery, but neither are you condemned to stay within it.

Key idea

Mercy unites welcome, truth, and a real way out of evil.

Your challenge for this idea

Present a concrete fault to God today without justifying it, and ask for help to take a different step.
