Love cannot be imposed
You can compel external conduct, but you cannot manufacture a person's inner surrender from outside.
When facing someone who drifts away, you want to secure what is good through pressure, surveillance, or guilt. You might achieve a physical presence or a correct response, but not necessarily love.
Freedom makes every relationship vulnerable. Proposing, educating, and setting boundaries remain necessary, especially where responsibilities exist. However, there comes a point where you must allow the other person to respond and face the consequences.
God himself calls without treating the creature as an object. Learning his way implies speaking clearly and giving up manipulating emotions. A 'no' can hurt and require protective distance, but it does not authorize hijacking the response. Loving includes desiring a true 'yes', and therefore accepts that it can only be born of real freedom.
Key idea
Love needs a free response, which is why firm proposals and boundaries must not become manipulations of will or affections.
Your challenge for this idea
Review an emotional request: eliminate any implicit threat or guilt and formulate clearly what you want, leaving real room to respond.
