Living together is also a virtue

Mark as read

Life together improves when everyone gives something of themselves.

Sociability is not just being extroverted. It is learning to make living together easier: greeting, listening, waiting your turn, collaborating, and avoiding turning your own temper into a burden for everyone. You don't need to shine. Sometimes it is enough not to complicate things, not to withdraw out of pride, and to bring a little warmth where you are. Loving well means treating the other person as a person, not as someone you use to be comfortable, receive approval, or vent what is inside you. Affection is needed, yes, but also prudence: knowing when to speak, when to keep silent, when to correct, and when to accompany.

Key idea

Sociability is charity applied to daily living together.
