Living role models teach what a rule cannot show

Rules mark boundaries and books explain reasons. Even so, you may not know what patience looks like under pressure, justice with an adversary, or faith amid a loss. A living role model displays tone, timing, and priorities. They do not offer behavior to copy mechanically; they let you observe how a principle finds personal form in real circumstances. Choosing models requires discernment. No one is exemplary in everything, and admiration should not suspend judgment or create dependency. You can learn a concrete virtue, also recognize limits, and return to the source of good. Moral formation needs true ideas, but it becomes imaginable when you discover a person who managed to embody them while remaining fully human.
