Kind discipline explains its reasons

Families need schedules, chores and limits. If they're presented only as orders, they may get immediate obedience, but they don't teach self-government once supervision disappears. Explaining the reason connects the rule with rest, fairness, health or living together. It doesn't mean negotiating every decision or doing away with authority. It lets a child understand what good he is learning to look after. Kindness also affects the way you correct. A consequence can be upheld without labels, threats or humiliation. The aim isn't to let off frustration, but to form freedom. Mature discipline looks further than this afternoon's behavior: it hopes that one day the person will choose by themselves what they now practice with support.
