Is the human being special?

The human being is part of creation, but possesses a unique dignity. One can know, love, choose, respond, and be open to God. You are not valuable for your utility, your performance, or the opinion of others. Your dignity comes from having been loved by God and called to a life with meaning. Being a creature does not diminish you. It reminds you that your life was received as a gift and has a value that no comparison can grant or take away.
