Is freedom absolute?

"It's my life and I'll do what I want." It sounds like freedom, until you see someone who can no longer stop gambling, a relationship that is hurting them or an addiction that started "because I wanted to". Sometimes freedom is understood as being able to do anything. But freedom without truth ends up turning against the person. Freedom is directed toward the good: it isn't fulfilled simply by choosing, but by choosing what builds up, puts in order and brings you closer to God.
