If you had to say in one word what God does
In a language class, the teacher pointed to the word "punishes." A Christian student found another.
In a country with few believers, a language teacher asked a Christian student: "What does God do?", while pointing in the dictionary to the word "punishes." The boy didn't have the vocabulary to explain much. He searched and answered: "God forgives."
Many people have that image of God: someone who watches and punishes. But if we had to sum up in one word what Jesus teaches us about God, it would be that: he forgives. Not because evil doesn't matter to him, but because his love is greater than our faults.
If you ever find it hard to approach God because you're expecting punishment, remember that boy's answer. God knows everything you have done and, even so, what he wants is to forgive you.
Key idea

Your challenge for this idea
If you're carrying something that weighs on you, tell God about it today, counting on the fact that he wants to forgive you.
