If we are not alone, we are not without God either
Discovering companionship in the universe would not leave heaven empty.
The possibility of not being alone in the universe can be deeply striking. It would change the way we look at ourselves, do science, and perhaps understand our place in creation.
But it would not have to erase God. That more creatures exist does not make the Creator less real. Faith does not depend on human beings being the only possible living beings, but on all creation coming from God.
Humility would be necessary. Perhaps many ways of speaking would have to be revised, but not the essential truth: God would still be God, and creation would still be creation.
Key idea
More creatures do not mean less Creator.
Your challenge for this idea
When something makes you feel small before the universe, turn it into humility rather than fear.
