How to think deeply again

Mark as read

Thinking well requires time, silence, and patience.

Thinking deeply has become difficult because almost everything invites you to react quickly. You jump from one notification to another, from one opinion to another, and in the end you have consumed many words without letting any of them truly transform you. Regaining depth requires silence and time. Reading slowly, asking a question, writing a few lines, or sustaining a conversation without checking your phone trains an attention that constant hurry wears down. Prudence also needs that pause to deliberate before making a decision. Interior life grows when you do not flee immediately from emptiness. In silence, uncomfortable questions may arise, but so do direction, prayer, and a clearer perspective on your priorities. Thinking better is a way to live with greater freedom.

Key idea

Depth appears when you make space to think.
