How to leave victimhood behind
Not everything depends on you, but something does depend on you.
There are harms you did not choose and responsibilities that clearly belong to others. Naming that truthfully is necessary. The problem appears when your whole identity begins to revolve around what was done to you and you no longer see any room to act.
Stepping out of victimhood does not mean minimizing the pain or blaming yourself for it. It means gradually regaining your share of freedom: asking for help, setting a boundary, dropping an excuse, working on a habit, or deciding what kind of person you want to be from now on.
Christian responsibility does not crush; it opens a way forward. God can also meet you in a wounded story and help you respond with courage. You may not control what happened, but today you can take a step that is not dictated by that wound.
