A great hope puts small hopes in order

You want to finish a degree, get well, start a family or improve a situation. Those concrete hopes get you moving and deserve care. But some clash with each other and others may be frustrated. A greater hope lets you put them in order. You ask whether each project helps you to love, to serve and to walk toward God. You can also let one go when it demands betraying a deeper good. Eternal life doesn't work like a disconnected prize at the end. It starts offering criteria today. It relativizes what seemed absolute and gives eternal value back to small gestures. When human hopes live within that promise, the earth isn't despised, nor is the impossible expected of it. Each desire finds its size and its place.
