Grace does not depend on what you feel

Sometimes we leave Mass or confession without "feeling" anything special and think it was useless. But the sacraments do not work through the emotion of the moment or the holiness of the minister: they operate by the power of God. That takes away a lot of pressure. You do not have to manufacture feelings or be on your best form. Christ truly acts, even if you are distracted, exhausted, or dry. Grace is real, whether you notice it or not. This does not mean it makes no difference how you arrive: the more open you go, the more fruit you receive. But the gift does not depend on your feelings. It depends on him, who never fails.
