The Gospels are not a myth

The Gospels recount real events with striking sobriety: they even narrate weaknesses of the apostles that no one would have invented to look good. Believing does not mean switching off reason. It means trusting serious testimonies, preserved and lived out to the point of martyrdom. Christian faith is not born of a pretty idea, but of the historical encounter with Christ. For a Christian, this is not just an idea. It has to do with a living relationship with God: trusting, listening, asking for help, asking for forgiveness, and starting again. It is not enough to understand it; it must touch prayer and everyday decisions.
