God chose those nobody believed
He entrusted the most important news in history first to some women.
In Jesus' time, a woman's word counted for little: in many matters it wasn't even accepted as testimony. And yet the four Gospels agree that the first to find the empty tomb and to receive the announcement of the resurrection were women.
At first the apostles didn't believe them: it seemed like nonsense to them (Lk 24:11). If someone had invented the story to convince people, they wouldn't have chosen those witnesses. But God didn't look for the most influential, but for the women who had stayed by the cross and got up early to go to the tomb.
This also says something about you. Maybe you feel your word carries no weight, that people don't take you seriously. God doesn't measure like that. He trusts those who have been faithful to him, even if nobody else listens to them.
Key idea
God doesn't look at how much weight your word carries, but at how much you love him.
Your challenge for this idea
Today, listen carefully to someone whom almost nobody takes seriously.
