A full schedule can hide an empty life

Intense activity can be generous and fruitful. It can also serve to avoid thinking, to ignore a wound, or to dodge a pending decision. From the outside both schedules look the same; on the inside they spring from very different places. Christian order is not just about fitting in more tasks. It asks what occupies the center, what urgent matters are devouring what is important, and whether there is still room where God, others, and your own conscience can speak without competing with a screen. Pausing for a moment is not abandoning responsibilities. It is regaining the helm. A life with interior peace can work hard, but does not live dragged along by every stimulus. It knows why it does what it does and also what it must leave undone.
