Friendship needs conversations without a clock
Deep bonds rarely fit into the minutes that are left over.
You can maintain a friendship through quick messages and know almost everything the other person does. However, information cannot replace conversation in which that which was not yet ordered or ready to be published comes to the surface.
Those conversations need a time that does not feel like a countdown. They will not always be solemn: they can arise while walking, cooking, or after plenty of laughter. The important thing is that space exists to move from updates to what truly worries, excites, or hurts.
Constant haste leaves friendships on the surface even when affection is present. Reserving time does not guarantee intimacy, but it makes it possible. Sometimes caring for a friend begins by putting the phone far away, ceasing to watch the clock, and allowing the conversation to find its own depth.
