Friendship is the natural language of faith

Mark as read

The most intimate questions rarely open before someone who only wants to convince.

The Ethiopian invites Philip to come up into the chariot because the question has created trust. Faith affects the whole person and touches vulnerable places; that is why it usually needs a relationship where it is possible to ask questions without being reduced to a debate. In a friendship there is room for doubts, for experiences that have hurt, and for the time needed to understand. Not everything is resolved with a correct argument; sometimes one first has to discover that the question can be spoken aloud without losing affection. Loving well includes sharing what gives meaning to your life, but also staying when the answer does not arrive. Friendship offers time, example, and an open door that pressure would close.

Key idea

Your challenge for this idea
