Friendship is proven when things are hard

It is easy to be there when all goes well.

It is easy to accompany someone when everything is light and fun. Friendship shows its depth when the other goes through a failure, an illness, a doubt, or a stage when being close is not particularly pleasant. You won't always be able to fix the problem. Often your task will be humbler: listening unhurriedly, calling again, making a visit, praying for that person, or offering concrete help without making yourself the center. Remaining does not mean invading. There are times to speak and times to respect silence. Charity learns that gentleness. A true friend does not promise to save the other's life, but prevents them from having to go through what weighs on them alone.
