Friends who open up a roof

Mark as read

Some friends don't give up when the door is shut.

There are people today who can't get close to God on their own: they're blocked, discouraged or very far away. And it doesn't help much to tell them from outside what they should do. What does help is having friends who take their problem seriously and don't give up at the first obstacle. Like those four in the Gospel who, unable to get in through the door, opened up the roof to lower their paralyzed friend in front of Jesus. Maybe your faith and your persistence are what bring someone closer. Sometimes a gesture is enough: inviting them along, keeping them company, praying for them steadily. You can't heal them, but you can carry them.

Key idea

Your faith can bring before God a friend who can't get there alone.

Your challenge for this idea

Think of a friend who is having a hard time and pray for them today by name.
