A friend cannot quench all your thirst
Asking a friendship to be everything is a slow way to break it.
In deep friendships we seek understanding, presence, and a harmony that seems to promise rest. That is why their limits hurt so much: the friend forgets, does not understand, or cannot accompany you as you expected.
That pain does not prove the friendship false. It reminds you that no person can respond to the entire desire to be known and loved that you carry inside. When you demand that infinite from them, any limit feels like betrayal and affection fills up with unsettled debts.
God frees the friendship from that weight without making it less human. You can be grateful for what the other does offer, express a real need, and accept that they also need other bonds. The friend is not your savior; they are a concrete gift with whom you share a precious part of the journey.
Key idea

Your challenge for this idea
Thank a friend today for something specific they do give you, without adding the reproach for what they cannot offer.
