Feeling envy is a sign
Another person's joy can reveal an disordered desire in you.
Envy does not usually present itself honestly. It disguises itself as criticism, irony, or indifference before another person's good. But inside it reveals a comparison that is stealing your peace.
You can use that sign to return to gratitude. The good of another does not take away your dignity or future. God does not distribute love as though it were scarce.
The inner life needs patience. Some emotions warn of a wound, of tiredness, or of a disordered desire; others simply pass. Maturing means not taking them as law, but not ignoring them as if they said nothing either.
Key idea
Envy is fought with gratitude and rejoicing in another's good.
Your challenge for this idea
Sincerely congratulate someone for something that would normally make you feel envious.
