Faith does not spare you asking for consent
A personal call does not permit you to treat as invisible those whom it will affect.
St. Nicholas of Flüe felt a radical call to the hermit life after years of marriage and raising ten children.
The account emphasizes that he asked for the consent of his wife and his older children before departing. A spiritual decision can be authentic and, even so, have deep consequences for others.
Saying "God asks it of me" does not exempt you from listening, explaining, and assuming responsibilities. Vocation never turns the people close to you into collateral damage. Not every decision will require total agreement, but major ones call for honest dialogue and discernment. If a call comes from God, it must also learn to pass through the truth of your bonds.
