Evolution does not eliminate creation

Mark as read

Explaining a process does not eliminate the question of who sustains it.

The fact that natural processes exist does not force us to remove God from reality. Knowing how things develop does not completely answer why there exists an order capable of producing them. Faith does not need to deny evolution in order to affirm the Creator. It can recognize material processes and, at the same time, the action of a divine intellect that gives being and meaning. It does not help to close this question with a quick phrase. If it appears, it can be a good occasion to form your faith better, ask for counsel, and think with more calm. The Church does not fear honest questions; what impoverishes is not wanting to seek in earnest truth.

Key idea

Natural processes do not replace the question of the Creator.

Your challenge for this idea

When you learn a scientific explanation, ask yourself what it says about the order of reality.
