Everything is an opinion is not enough

Mark as read

If everything depends on opinion, why does an injustice outrage you?

"Everyone has their own truth" sounds tolerant and polite. But if everything truly depends on each person's point of view, with what authority do you say something is wrong when you witness an abuse? Knowing what is right is not always easy. Even so, ceasing to seek it does not make us freer: it lets whoever shouts loudest, has the most power, or is most comfortable decide. There is no need to settle this with a hasty phrase. If doubt lingers, it is a good time to ask questions, seek advice, and think it through calmly. Honest questions do no harm; what impoverishes us is refusing to seek in earnest.

Key idea

If nothing is true, justice is left without support.

Your challenge for this idea

Think of a phrase like "everyone has their own truth" that you use, and ask yourself if you would say it before a grave abuse.
