The Eucharist is not an amulet

St. Satyrus tied the Eucharist to his body during a shipwreck because he could not yet receive Communion. His brother St. Ambrose recounts that, after being saved, he sought to receive the sacraments and welcome Christ within. The end of the account matters. Faith does not consist in treating a sacred object as automatic protection while your life remains closed. A medal, a cross, or a holy card can help you remember and ask, but they do not work like magic. The Christian sign points to a real relationship and a response. Wearing it on the outside makes sense when it helps you open up trust, conversion, and a different way of living on the inside.
