Does praying change anything if God already knows?

It is a reasonable objection: if God already knows what you need before you speak, praying with petitions seems useless. But asking is not informing God of something he does not know. It is something else. Praying does not change God; it changes you. By asking, you admit you cannot manage alone, open your hands, and place yourself in his presence. A good father knows what his child needs and still wants them to ask: not for data, but because asking holds trust, relationship, and affection. And he does not always give what you ask as is; sometimes he gives something better, or the strength to carry it. Asking is not dropping a coin in a slot: it is speaking with Someone who loves you and knows more than you.
