Does God control everything?

God sustains creation and guides history, but he does not treat human beings like puppets. He has created you free and responsible. That freedom is a serious gift. God can call, enlighten, and accompany, but he does not eliminate your personal response. Loving requires freedom. God takes your freedom seriously. His call does not turn you into a passive part: he awaits a personal, responsible, and trusting response.
