Do not think like the herd
Today opinions are mass-produced, like soap. Do not buy without looking.
We live surrounded by fashions that are not only about clothes: also about ideas. An opinion spreads and, in a short time, "everyone" thinks the same, is outraged by the same thing, repeats the same phrases. It is comfortable to let yourself drift with the herd; you barely even notice.
Being pure of heart, deep down, is being made of one piece: acting the same wherever you are, being faithful to what you believe to the end, not calculating your conduct according to what the majority does. Not to be contrary, but to have your own judgment.
It is not about despising others or believing you are special. It is about thinking before swallowing, asking yourself whether you believe something because it is true or only because your group believes it. Having judgment, today, is almost an act of courage.
Key idea
Having your own judgment, without following the herd, is part of an upright heart.
Your challenge for this idea
Faced with an opinion that "everyone" repeats today, stop and ask yourself if you truly think it or just copied it.
