Discipline is freedom
Always doing what you feel like does not make you free. It makes you predictable.
Discipline is neither living rigidly nor treating yourself harshly. It is learning to govern yourself so that tiredness, your phone, laziness, or the impulse of the moment do not always decide for you.
Every choice leaves a mark. When you fulfill an obligation even if it costs you, your freedom gains strength for the next decision. When you always give in to the immediate, the margin narrows and you end up reacting predictably.
Christian freedom does not consist only in having many options. It consists in being able to choose the good you have recognized, even when it demands effort. That capacity is trained in small things: getting up, studying, praying, turning off a screen, or keeping a promise.
Key idea
Discipline does not take freedom away: it makes it possible.
Your challenge for this idea
