Did God just create the world and walk away?

Sometimes God is imagined as someone who created the world in the beginning and then walked away. But Christian faith sees something deeper. God does not merely give origin to what is created: he maintains it in being. Your life, the world, and every instant depend on a love that continues to sustain everything. That does not turn God into just another part of the universe. It means nothing is left abandoned: you can care for the world and live your duties with gratitude and responsibility.
