Deep joy is not superficial

There are quick joys that disappear as soon as the plan changes. But there exists a deeper joy, born of living with meaning, with a clean conscience, and with an oriented heart. Christian joy does not deny difficulties. It grows when life is more united to goodness, to God, and to that which truly matters. Feeling something strongly does not automatically make it true or false. It is wise to name it, understand what it indicates, and then choose a good response.
