Danger of idealizing

Idealizing can cause you to overlook major flaws, warning signs, or real inconsistencies. At first it seems beautiful, but later it usually brings suffering. Loving well requires realism. It is not about seeking perfection, but about seeing the person as they are and discerning whether that relationship can be built in truth. Seeing with realism does not kill affection. It allows you to love a concrete person and decide freely, without ignoring important signs just because everything seems intense at first.
