Correcting without breaking

Educating and correcting aim to form, not to vent anger. That is why the manner matters: a fair word can help; a hurtful word can close a heart for a long time. Correcting well combines firmness and affection. It is not about giving in to everything, but about remembering that the person is worth more than the mistake you need to point out. Loving well means treating the other person as a person, not as someone you use to be comfortable, receive approval, or vent what is inside you. Affection is needed, yes, but also prudence: knowing when to speak, when to keep silent, when to correct, and when to accompany.
