Communion is letting yourself be transformed
You do not turn Christ into yourself: he gradually turns you into him.
With ordinary food, you transform nourishment into your body. With the Eucharist it happens the other way around: you do not assimilate it; it is Christ who gradually changes you. Receiving communion is neither a reward nor a habit: it is letting yourself be transformed.
That is why what comes next matters. If you have truly received Christ, it should show: truer words, more patience, helpful actions, and a way of treating others that recalls his.
Do not expect fireworks. The change is quiet and gradual, like food that sustains you. But if you receive communion with faith, you grow increasingly like the One you receive.
Key idea
In communion you do not absorb Christ: you let yourself be transformed into him.
Your challenge for this idea
After receiving communion (or after praying today), choose a concrete gesture in which you want to be more like Christ today.
